I am not much of a baseball fan, but it has been very interesting to see the Colorado Rockies go on a streak winning the last 21 of 22 games, including the last 7 in the National League playoffs. The media loves to ask the players how they are doing it and the team is not trying to dissect why they are winning, they are just going out and believing in their team and playing. In sports, momentum is a term that is used to describe a player or team getting on a role despite the odds against them sustaining that high level of play. The question from my clients is always how can I experience this momentum to just play and win? The key part of the equation is to “just play”. The Rockies players have stated in several interviews that they are playing with confidence and they go out with the only goal of executing. Their goal has not been to win, but to focus on the things they do well as a club and keep it doing it day in and day out. To get long term achievement requires short term actions that need to be repeated over and over again until “momentum” takes over.
