All peak performers have mastered the necessary fundamentals of their specific area of achievement. An athlete has certain fundamentals that become the foundation for their level of performance. A business executive has the same fundamentals to be the best in his or her industry. If one tries to skip the fundamentals then performance will suffer.

Think about the fundamentals in your line of performance. If you are in sales you know the importance of prospecting, connecting, follow up, and the ultimate goal, closing the sale. All of these skills interrelate and all must be mastered for you to sustain business growth. To often an individual is strong in one area and weak in another area. Peak performers are those that raise their standards of all the fundamental skills so there are no weaknesses. The fundamental skills need to include a mindset component. How you control your mental focus, emotional state, and the ability to execute under pressure will be the determining factor if you succeed or not. These are the skills I train with athletes, executives, and other peak performers

Training produces improved skills. What these posts will be about is how to set up a training formula that will improve your performance skills. Training consists of identifying the areas for improvement, seeking out guidance to know how to improve those areas, and the repetition to make the change. In my Enough is Enough training program I coach on how to make changes. Change will happen to everyone of us, however controlling what you are changing may not be as easy.

Change is uncomfortable for so many. Some fear the unknown, even if it would be for the better. People are stuck in their comfort zone. Peak performers have learned how to push their comfort zone out to the point that trying new things and taking on new challenges does not faze them. The goal is to think beyond today and become more future oriented of what you want to achieve and what type of person will you have to be to accomplish it.

As we go through the Training Formula for Peak Performance I will be challenging you to be more than you are today. Breaking out of your current comfort zone is required. Start getting excited about the opportunity to be the best. Today is the day you make a decision that you will train yourself on a daily basis to be more than were yesterday. Change is good, get excited!
