Watching the EDS Byron Nelson golf tournament I was interested how two young players, Adam Scott and Ryan Moore would perform down the stretch. Peter Kostis (CBS analyst) said something so true about Adam Scott. He noted that when Adam has to make a shot (18th hole putt in regulation) he usually steps up and does it. However when Adam is given a shot that is not make or break he tends to be tight and not aggressive. He did this on the putt for eagle on 16 and the putt in the first playoff hole. He left both putts short. It is as if he is playing not to lose. Adam is technically a great player, but will not be seen as a “great” player until he can play all his important shots down the stretch with conviction. It show that when his back is against the wall to just go after it. Adam got away with one in Dallas. He will not have that luxury in majors when stepping off the gas will get you passed.
