I just got back from a wonderful trip to Dallas with one of my clients. I was fortunate enough to stay and play at the Four Seasons at Las Colinas in Dallas and play the TPC course that hosts the EDS Byron Nelson Championship. My client is a very talented mini-tour professionial so we played the championship tees on the TPC course. I still believe I have a good game, so I was excited to play where Adam Scott just won three weeks prior. Let’s just say I was humbled. I ended up shooting 79 on a par 70 course. It sounds ok, however it was work to shoot that score. Anytime I get the opportunity to play where the tour players play I get a reality check of how good they are and that I made the right decision years ago to stop playing professionally. The TPC course is one that demands a solid game from tee to green and preciseness around the green. I enjoy courses that challenge the entire game and are not just about seeing how far you can hit it. These professionals face these conditions week in and week out and need to be mentally focused for the entire round or a big score can happen. I am looking forward to seeing how the best play Torrey Pines in this year’s US Open. I have played there and I can only imagine how difficult it will play in US Open conditions. |
